Clinical Supervision for LLMSWs

I offer clinical supervision for Limited Licensed Master Social Workers (LLMSWs) in Michigan who are working toward full licensure.

Supervision is more than a requirement for licensure. It’s an opportunity to grow into the kind of therapist you want to become.

My approach to supervision focuses on developing your confidence, strengthening your therapeutic presence, and helping you think deeply about the dynamics that unfold in therapy. Together we explore case conceptualization, attachment and relational patterns, substance abuse and/or addiction, trauma-informed care, and the emotional experience of being a therapist.

Supervision is a space to talk honestly about the challenges of the profession. Maybe you’re navigating imposter syndrome, difficult cases, countertransference, or finding your own voice as a clinician. My goal is to create a thoughtful, supportive environment where you can develop both professionally and personally.

I have over 13 years of experience in social work. I’ve worked in the court system alongside probation officers and judges, PHP (partial hospitalization programs) for children, teens, and adults, nonprofit substance abuse agencies providing individual and group therapy, and group private practice. My clinical focus is on helping adults heal relational and attachment wounds that impact their relationships and self esteem. I help individuals find themselves, build confidence, and develop a strong sense of who they are.

LLMSW Supervision Requirements in Michigan

NASW-Michigan Chapter states:

In Michigan, Limited Licensed Master Social Workers (LLMSWs) must complete supervised clinical experience before applying for full licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

To qualify for full clinical licensure, LLMSWs must complete 4,000 hours of supervised clinical social work experience over a period of at least two years. These hours must be completed under the supervision of a fully licensed LMSW with the clinical designation.

Supervision must be conducted for at least 4 hours per month. Of those 4 hours, at least 2 hours must be on an individual, 1-on-1 basis with your supervisor while at most 2 hours may be conducted in group settings.

Supervision can be virtual, in-person, or a combination of virtual and in-person

Since licensure requirements can change, clinicians should always confirm the most current requirements with the Michigan Board of Social Work.
